Elephant View Homestead

A working family farm where nature and sustainability go hand in hand. We raise free-range chickens, pigs, sheep, and our resident cattle duo, Daisy and Bobbi, who spend most of their days happily wandering the farm — except when Bobbi is busy indulging his obsession with banana leaves and stripping the trees. Our very protective ram, Gordon Rammy, is also part of the family, and his personality is very much reflected in his name. We keep bees for honey and pollination, grow fresh vegetables, and create handcrafted products including sourdough bread and artisan soaps, even our unique elephant dung soap. We also offer a professional bee extraction service.


For those looking to unwind, we offer two beautiful self-catering cottages — Elephant View Cottage and Hydrangea Cottage. Guests can book directly through our website, or via Airbnb and Booking.com. Both cottages enjoy stunning farm views and the unforgettable experience of watching elephants from nearby Knysna Elephant Park. The attention to detail and all the lovely touches are what truly makes this place feel so so special. The beds were lovely and the place was truly so well thoughtout.   • We had the most wonderful stay. Carrie is an exceptional host, and the place itself was absolutely splendid. The setting is breathtaking, with beautiful views overlooking the Knysna Elephant Park – truly something special.
    The accommodation was superb and incredibly well thought out. Everything you could possibly need was provided, including so many thoughtful extras you wouldn’t even think to ask for. It honestly felt like nothing was overlooked.

  • Carries place to me is a true Airbnb. Friendly, thoughtful and always quick communication. The place is full of character, modern but homely with incredible light. very clean and everything provided of good quality. A delicious food hamper was waiting with snacks, milk, bread, eggs, tea and coffee! all this and then there's the elephants strolling in the nearby field. if you're travelling by car and want somewhere peaceful and full of colour with views to die for. This is the place.From the minute we met Carrie at check in we felt instantly welcome. We didn't meet again until we checked out but always knew if we needed any help she was close by to contact.Would suit many groups but we were 2 adults and 2 children (8 and 6) - they loved it!

  • Our stay at Elephant View Homestead in Plettenberg Bay was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the incredible attention to detail and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The freshly baked sourdough, honey from the farm and eggs from the chickens was the most thoughtful touch.
    The location is unbeatable—perched on a peaceful farm with breathtaking views of elephants roaming freely at the neighboring Knysna Elephant Park. Waking up to the sight of these majestic animals from our stoep was an unforgettable experience! Yet, despite the tranquil setting, we were just a short drive from Plettenberg Bay’s stunning beaches, amazing restaurants, and charming shops.
    The homestead itself is immaculate, thoughtfully designed, and stocked with everything we could possibly need (and more!). We cannot wait to return to this home from home...thank you Carrie and Laura for the most amazing stay!

  • Meeting the special people personally who make this venue so special for guests to enjoy as a piece of their heaven, was really wonderful. Thank you Carrie for putting so much of your love and personal touches into the comfort of the Homestead. That BREAD!!!
    OMG!!! We've stayed in many places both in and outside of South Africa over our travelling years, but THIS time, we were blown away by your love with that bread. Thank you so much. The quality of the provisions, kitchenware, appliances, bedding etc in the whole place is phenomenal. And then......, the views from the stoep, is to die for. Seeing the elephants and other animals in the adjoining sanctuary, is a special bonus. The nightly visits of that large troop of baboons, evoked a lot of interest and "nervousness ", 😏 but they were interesting to watch.
    Thank you Ian and Laura for the eggs and the interesting conversations. Ice , your dog, is also special in his friendly manner. Families with young children will enjoy your farm animals on site and could learn a lot from you.

  • It has been a wonderful place to stay, whether for a short or long time. The house is beautiful, located in the middle of a farm and right in front of the elephants’ reserve path. Every day, when they walk by, you can see them in the distance while comfortably enjoying your breakfast.

    The house itself is truly charming and comfortable. Everything was new, and we found all the essentials we may need. But the best part is the owners. They are lovely people who showed us around the farm and shared their stories with us. They are fascinating, kind, and make you want to keep listening and learning more.

    Anyone who loves animals or plants would truly enjoy hearing them talk and witnessing their love and care for their animals. It has been a real pleasure meeting them. Thank you for your kind gestures, and especially for the handmade bread and marmalade you left for us in the house—they were absolutely delicious!

    We felt as comfortable as if we were with close friends.
